On March 1st, 50 wine producers and 25 olive oil producers from Italy will be coming to DC for the launch of these two guide books.  We hope you can join us for the walk around tasting! Please feel free to share this invite with your colleagues in the wine and food industry.

Daniele Cernilli, highly acclaimed international wine critic on Italian wine, aka DoctorWine, and Marco Oreggia, most respected extra virgin olive oil journalist are pleased to invite you to the walk around tasting for the launch of the guides in the U.S. Come enjoy wines from 50 producers and olive oils from 25 producers from throughout Italy.

The guides focus on producers’ reputation and the value, price/quality ratio and typicality of their products. Their style is an easy, approachable “working” guide. A select group of wine and extra virgin olive oil producers who have earned the highest scores will be presenting them at this event.

DANIELE CERNILLI is an internationally famous wine critic. He was one of the founders of Gambero Rosso and for 24 years edited the Gambero Rosso – Slow Food Wine Guide. During his long career, he has tasted, evaluated and classified about 150,000 wines and invented the famous ‘Three Glasses’ classification system. He then created the web magazine “DoctorWine” that has rapidly become one of the landmarks of the wine world. For Einaudi Editor he published Memorie di un assaggiatore (Memories of a taster) in 2006 and I Racconti (e i consigli) di Doctor Wine (DoctorWine’s Tales – and advice) in 2014, for Mondadori Publisher the frst two editions of the Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia 2015 and 2016.

MARCO OREGGIA is a journalist and wine-and-food critic. After qualifying as an agricultural engineer, he has gained his technical experience in the field of tasting, first working as a quality restaurateur in his restaurant Girone VI in Rome for years, then taking several professional qualifications. He is a virgin and extra virgin olive oil taster, a professional enologist, a wine and grappa taster and a sommelier. He is enrolled in the National Directory of Wine Technicians and Tasters at the C.C.I.A.A. of Frosinone and Rome and in the National Directory of Technicians and Experts in Virgin and Extra Virgin Olive Oil at the C.C.I.A.A. of Rome. He is the editor and publisher of the book FLOS OLEI – a guide to the world of extra virgin olive oil. He has written several books and guides about the elaiotechnical sector and organized conventions, workshops, tastings and events about wine and food in Italy and abroad.
